About Acupuncture Physician Gwen Thomas
Gwen Thomas graduated from the East West College of Natural Medicine in Sarasota, FL; which won the Traditional Chinese Medical School of the year award in 2003. She is also a graduate of St. Petersburg College and the University of South Florida, earning a Bachelor of Science in Allied Health and a Masters of Oriental Medicine. She holds certifications in Injection Therapy, Clinical Nutrition, Homeopathy, and NADA protocol utilizing Chinese Medicine.
Before pursuing her career in natural medicine, Gwen was a surgical nurse in the fields of plastic surgery, dental and oral surgery in the state of New Jersey. While there, she trained under a Yale graduate, a Columbia University professor and the Chief of Plastic Surgery in Monmouth County, NJ. It was here, working with several patients diagnosed with breast cancer, that Gwen was drawn to natural healing. While these women with breast cancer were undergoing reconstruction, Gwen noticed a greater difference in healing, fewer negative side-effects and symptoms from chemotherapy, and a stronger recovery from those who were also incorporating acupuncture and Chinese medicine as part of their treatment. Gwen started referring patients to acupuncturists and other energy healers with successful outcomes. Eventually, Gwen realized that this form of care was what she would rather be practicing herself. Taking a leap of faith, Gwen quit her well-paying position with one of the most respected plastic surgeons in the North East, and headed back to school. Following her heart to her childhood home of Florida, she travelled and trained to become what she believed in. Gwen’s extensive experience in Western medicine and Eastern medicine enables her to be uniquely positioned to provide a balanced and truly integrated approach towards health.

She specializes in custom care and treats each individual as the unique patient they are. Beyond the requirements in the field of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), it is always nice to find a practitioner who has the professional and life experiences that make them an exceptional and compassionate healer. With her experience in the care of children and elderly, Gwen has developed a gentle needle technique, making an acupuncture treatment effective and comfortable.
Being an outdoors person, she enjoys SCUBA diving and bike riding whenever the weather permits.
